The Kennedy ‘era’ begins with a win and not much else.

John Kennedy took charge for the first time as the new Celtic interim boss yesterday and started with a win which is all you can really ask for at the moment.

An Odsonne Edouard effort on 8 mins that took a wicked deflection off of visiting defender Tommie Hoban and gave Joe Lewis no chance ended up being the difference between the teams.

The ‘new era’ begins.

It was French Eddy’s 20th goal of the season – 21 if you include his Scottish Cup Final strike against Hearts which technically belongs to the last campaign – and was well deserved based on an impressive first 30 mins where we really should have pressed home the advantage but alas like so many games this term we didn’t.

To be honest we actually got a fair amount of luck in the opening minutes as two efforts from big Ash Taylor came close to giving the visitors the lead.

One came off the bar and the other produced a save of the season contender from Scott Bain.

Both were ultimately as close as the Dons would come to scoring though as the game become a pretty dull after the half-hour mark with the men in red showing a bit more intent in the second half as we dropped off.

It was more or less a rerun of our 1-0 victory over the same opposition ten days previously also at Celtic Park.

Probably not the barnstorming start that Kennedy would have hoped for but three points none the less and perhaps something for him to build on.

Klimala got a rare start up front with Eddy and ran himself into the ground but alas missed a great opportunity in the first half and didn’t come close to scoring thereafter.

Next up we visit Tannadice to take on Dundee Utd in seven days time.

They’ve had an indifferent campaign under new boss Micky Mellon recording 8 wins, 11 draws and 12 losses which sees them sit seventh on 35 points four behind sixth-placed St.Mirren.

Mellon is now in charge of the Tangerines.

Star striker Lawrence Shankland has struggled for goals netting only six this term and they are the joint second-lowest scorers in the league with only 28.

They’ve also only won six out of fifteen games at home and were scudded 5-1 there by visiting St.Mirren four weeks ago so it’s safe to say it’s hardly fortress Tannadice.

It’s our last game before entertaining Rangers a fortnight later on the 21st of March so it would be nice going in on some kind of form.

We can’t stop them from winning the league but we can take away their unbeaten record and that would still be satisfying.

But let’s just take care of the tangerines first.
