Kilmarnock 0-4 Celtic: Celtic hammer Killie in much needed win + Motherwell on Saturday previewed.

Celtic scudded a poor Kilmarnock team 4-0 last night.

For the first time in a long time, we put a team well and truly to the sword with a totally dominant display.

All over the home team from the first whistle Scott Brown – in for Soro – was an unlikely scorer with a neat header from a corner on 29 mins.

Brown stoops to conquer.

In the second half, the home sides keeper Colin Doyle clipped Albian Ajeti’s heel which led to a penalty that Odsonne Edouard converted.

The Sky Sports team claimed it was soft but considering Eddy was denied a stonewaller early in the first half they don’t have a leg to stand on.

Later in the half, a nice through ball from Turnbull found Eddy again who was adjudged to be onside and the Frenchman scored his 16th of the season with a nice finish past Doyle.

Then on 86 mins, Ajeti outmuscled Zeno Rossi after a ball over the top from Brown and smashed in a deserved fourth.

There could have been more and probably should have been but right now you’ll take a 4-0 win on the road and then some.

Some post-match palaver was made about Scott Brown’s alleged elbow on Aaron Tshibola but this was really desperate grasping at straws stuff.

It was a nothing incident.

Zero case to answer and the fact is the refreshed Celtic captain actually had a really good game.

Eddy is back in business……………..finally.

Anyway, it’s three points and the gap is now down to a mere 20 points with us having one game in hand.

Rangers play St Johnstone tonight at Ibrox so in all likelihood the gap is should be back to 23 points by 10 pm but in the grand scheme of things cutting the gap is really neither here nor there anymore.

We just have to get back to some consistent form and hope that off the field things begin to take shape.

Next up on it we play Motherwell at home.

Under new manager Graham Alexander they have taken five points from the last twelve.

He started off with a draw away to St.Mirren and an eye-catching point at home to Rangers before suffering his first loss away at Aberdeen by a 2-0 scoreline.

But Alexander secured his first win in the Fir Park hot-seat with a 2-1 win at Ross County last Saturday.

They play an out of form Dundee Utd at home tonight and will look to come into the Celtic Park game off the back of a good result.

Currently third bottom and only three points off the automatic relegation spot every point is a prisoner right now for the Steelmen and the evidence is that Alexander has them up for the battle.

Every point is a prisoner for new boss Alexander.

Ex-Celt Tony Watt is their top scorer but only has six in 27 games and that’s what has really hurt Motherwell this season as the Lanarkshire men have only hit the net 21 times in total on league business which is the third-lowest in the table and only two ahead of the lowest scorers Hamilton Accies.

Whereas managerless Kilmarnock looked like a rudderless ship last night I’d expect Motherwell to be far more organised and hungrier to compete.

But if we can get that first goal and then push on then it just might be another handsome win.

We’ve been that inconsistent this season though it’s better not to expect too much and instead just hope we can push on.

That’s really all we can do.

Hope and see what happens.
