As predicted by most Scotland were thumped by the third best team in the world – though they really are the second best as I’d make them favourites over Croatia – in last nights friendly.

A pretty strong Scotland line-up looked pretty solid for 28 mins before our own Craig Gordon decided to roll the ball to a completely unaware John McGinn – who could have been one of ours – resulting in McGinn surrendering possession at the edge of the box and seconds late Lukaku had it in the Scotland net.
In the second half Hazard ripped the net out, Mulgrew decided to try a Hollywood pass which ended up with a Belgium player and then seconds later was in the net via Batshuayi on 52 minutes and then eight minutes later it was 4-0 when Ryan Jack of them across the city was caught sleeping and that man Batshuayi picked up the loose ball and buried it for his second.

Thereafter Belgium took their foot off the table and Scotland had some decent chances with Naismith, in particular, passing up a certainty.
As for the Celtic players McGregor was decent, Craig Gordon should have given away a penalty but the referee let him off the hook, Leigh Griffiths limped off and Forrest was on the bench.
Kieron Tierney was played out of position all night as Alex McLeish continues the nonsense of trying to play both him and Andy Robertson in the same team. Yes, they are both very good but they both play the same position so make a choice. Playing one in an advanced position and the other one on the left of a back three central trio effectively neuters both. Playing one at right-back or the left side of midfield in a 4-4-2 would make more sense if you’re going to insist on playing both.
