So I guess here is where I explain why I started this blog and what its purpose is.
To be pretty frank the main reason as I guess you already suspect is that I’m a Celtic supporter who likes writing about the club.
I’ve written for other blogs in the past such as The Celtic Underground and The Celtic Blog both of which are excellent fans sites and far more popular than this one will ever be.
The problem for writing for someone else’s blog though is that understandably your content will always play second fiddle to their own. After all, it is theirs so they are going to make their articles and opinions priorities.
This blog will be a bit different though in that a lot of focus will go on where the club has been as opposed to being purely about where the club is now. So it will definitely pander to nostalgiaholics.
Of course, the blog is named after the legendary ‘Once A Tim’ Celtic fanzine which was sold outside the ground between 1990-1995. I still have many copies that my dad bought from the era stored up in my loft. I guess I’d like to create the same energy and humour which that blog inspired back at a very different time for the club albeit on a much smaller scale.

I was raised a Celtic supporter and was taken by my father to Celtic Park as a small child back in the 80’s whether I liked it or not. Ironically I only started paying attention at the 1990 Scottish Cup final where not only did we not win the national trophy for the first time in three years but as luck would have it, it also heralded in the barren and chaotic years where we were very much in the shadows of our ancient rivals Rangers.
I’ve focused on this particular period a lot in the ‘Dark Days’ section of the blog. These articles first appeared on the Celtic Blog last year and garnered some minor attention. They have been updated with a little bit more content added so if you have read them before you may still find something new.
I’d like to build on them and also add in reviews of the season in which we stopped ten in a row as well as the O’Neill years and the subsequent era that takes us up to today.
One day I’d also like to explore Celtic in the 80’s and even further back but I’ll probably need some help with that from people in the know having either been too young or not actually been there at all.
Whilst I’ll still keep with current events and all the news on and off the pitch at the club in the Blog section I’ll not be too focused on innuendo and rumour as I’d be lying if I claimed to have any inside scoop from within the club. I’ll leave that to other sites.
Also, my focus will be less concerned with what is occurring over at Castle Greyskull. Whilst clearly Rangers remain our biggest rivals – and yes I still do call them that and use terms such as ‘Old Firm’ – I’ll be investing most of my energies discussing what’s going on within the confines of Paradise in the here and now and reliving memories from the past.
So anyway I hope you enjoy it and feel free to comment. You can also get in touch via the contact section and I’d be happy to hear from anyone who’d like to contribute or offer feedback.
Hail, Hail.
